²⁶ When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and asked, “What are you going to do? This man is a Roman citizen.”

²⁷ Then the commander came to him and inquired, “Tell me, are you a Roman citizen?” And he answered, “Yes.” ²⁸ The commander responded, “It cost me a great deal of money to acquire this citizenship.” Paul replied, “But I was born a citizen.”
